Welcome to the blog. 

What is the blog about you ask? Easy. This is the place where you, friends, and family can keep track of what is happening at Tel Shimron. During the season, we post pictures and updates on discoveries and other fun information on a daily basis. In the off-season, we post less frequently but if there is news or great pictures, we share them.

While you will see lots of great pictures and learn about the site, the blog is not meant to be an academic one. It's meant to be a place where readers can follow along with dig life. Want more information on our research? Go here.

So, what's happening right now? Packing! Tel Shimron staff members begin traveling to the site next weekend. In the week before volunteers arrive, we will be hosting several hundred local students as part of our community outreach. Students will learn about archaeological method and theory through several days of excavation, artifact processing and demonstrations from specialists. Check back for pictures and updates!

The season really gets going with the arrival of volunteers on June 17th. After a survey season in 2016, this summer will be our first full excavation season and we are eager to get started. This summer, we will be excavating Middle Bronze, Hellenistic and Roman/Byzantine material. Who knows what we'll find; something ancient no doubt...
